Value Life!

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

I believe that when Thomas Jefferson crafted the United States Declaration of Independence, the unalienable right of “Life” was intended to also apply to the unborn. Since the unborn remain helpless, we have a responsibility to protect their rights to be born. Life is a gift and children are most precious.

My father was adopted from an orphanage in the 1930’s. Thankfully, his young parents chose to continue their unplanned pregnancy and gave up my father at birth. My grandparents longed for a child and adopted my father. If it weren’t for the courageous decision of a young lady, I would not be here, nor would my own children.

Recently, I attended a fundraiser to benefit the Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center in Warrenton. Care Net Pregnancy Resource Centers provide life-affirming options to those with unplanned pregnancies. “Friends of Cameron Jones” and the “Fauquier Cornerstone Committee” co-sponsored the event which was held on January 29th at the Stoneridge Events Center. Republicans in attendance were addressed by former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli.

With the support of many who believe in preserving the rights of the unborn, $5200 was raised for Care Net with Cam’s special event. The check was presented to the center in Warrenton on Friday, Feb. 6th. Thank you to those supporting the rights of the unborn through their contribution to Care Net. And thank you to Cameron Jones and Rick Buchanan for organizing the event for such a worthy cause. We enjoyed hearing Ken Cuccinelli speak and also appreciated the opportunity for fellowship with others sharing similar beliefs on the value of life.

I agree with our Founding Father Thomas Jefferson on his feelings about the preciousness of life. “The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government.”

Value life.
